Tanzania T-bill auction, 17 September 2025: 364-day at 5.99%, down 67 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 September 2025, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 6.81% (down 53 basis points), the 182-day bill at 6.56% (down 51 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.99% (down 67 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 189.9bn against TZS 79.8bn on offer, 238% of the amount sought, and TZS 79.8bn was accepted.
At 5.99%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 21 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.83%, so the government is paying 484 basis points less than twelve months ago.
