Tanzania T-bill auction, 27 August 2025: 364-day at 6.66%, down 26 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 August 2025, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.33% (down 6 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.08% (down 77 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.66% (down 26 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 163.7bn against TZS 79.8bn on offer, 205% of the amount sought, and TZS 81.8bn was accepted.
At 6.66%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 21 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.43%, so the government is paying 377 basis points less than twelve months ago.
