Tanzania T-bill auction, 6 November 2024: 364-day at 12.78%, up 65 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 6 November 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 8.25% (up 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.78% (up 65 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 107.0bn against TZS 123.3bn on offer, 87% of the amount sought, and TZS 105.7bn was accepted.
At 12.78%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 23 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.83%, so the government is paying 395 basis points more than twelve months ago.
