Tanzania T-bill auction, 23 October 2024: 364-day at 12.13%, up 94 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 23 October 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 12.13% (up 94 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 88.7bn against TZS 120.5bn on offer, 74% of the amount sought, and TZS 88.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.63%, so the government is paying 349 basis points more than twelve months ago.
