Tanzania T-bill auction, 9 October 2024: 364-day at 11.19%, up 21 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 October 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 8.17% (up 88 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.19% (up 21 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 29.6bn against TZS 123.3bn on offer, 24% of the amount sought, and TZS 29.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.11%, so the government is paying 308 basis points more than twelve months ago.
