Tanzania T-bill auction, 18 September 2024: 364-day at 10.98%, up 15 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 September 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 5.94% (up 81 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.98% (up 15 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 82.9bn against TZS 122.3bn on offer, 68% of the amount sought, and TZS 73.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.32%, so the government is paying 366 basis points more than twelve months ago.
