Tanzania T-bill auction, 20 November 2024: 364-day at 12.79%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 November 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 8.35% (up 10 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.79% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 104.7bn against TZS 123.3bn on offer, 85% of the amount sought, and TZS 49.1bn was accepted.
At 12.79%, the 364-day rate is the highest in the 23 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.28%, so the government is paying 351 basis points more than twelve months ago.
