Tanzania T-bill auction, 10 July 2024: 364-day at 8.41%, up 165 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 July 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 8.41% (up 165 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 100.0bn against TZS 120.5bn on offer, 83% of the amount sought, and TZS 50.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.75% to 12.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.14%, so the government is paying 127 basis points more than twelve months ago.
