Tanzania T-bill auction, 12 June 2024: 364-day at 6.75%, down 29 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 12 June 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 6.57% (down 142 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.75% (down 29 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 173.1bn against TZS 82.0bn on offer, 211% of the amount sought, and TZS 148.2bn was accepted.
At 6.75%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 24 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.22%, so the government is paying 47 basis points less than twelve months ago.
