Tanzania T-bill auction, 29 May 2024: 364-day at 7.04%, down 157 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 May 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 7.99% (down 46 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 7.04% (down 157 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 265.3bn against TZS 82.0bn on offer, 323% of the amount sought, and TZS 149.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.93% to 12.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 7.22%, so the government is paying 18 basis points less than twelve months ago.
