Tanzania T-bill auction, 8 April 2024: 364-day at 10.81%, down 76 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 8 April 2024, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 10.81% (down 76 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 162.7bn against TZS 79.1bn on offer, 206% of the amount sought, and TZS 79.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 6.74% to 12.30%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 6.56%, so the government is paying 425 basis points more than twelve months ago.
