Tanzania T-bill auction, 5 February 2020: 364-day at 5.84%, down 7 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 February 2020, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.50% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 5.84% (down 7 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 145.1bn against TZS 103.2bn on offer, 141% of the amount sought, and TZS 82.0bn was accepted.
At 5.84%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 26 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.32%, so the government is paying 347 basis points less than twelve months ago.
