Tanzania T-bill auction, 22 January 2020: 364-day at 5.91%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 22 January 2020, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.50% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 4.22% (down 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 5.91% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 139.5bn against TZS 106.2bn on offer, 131% of the amount sought, and TZS 106.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 5.87% to 9.26%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.35%, so the government is paying 344 basis points less than twelve months ago.
