Tanzania T-bill auction, 13 November 2019: 364-day at 6.13%, down 19 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 13 November 2019, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 364-day bill at 6.13% (down 19 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 233.6bn against TZS 101.5bn on offer, 230% of the amount sought, and TZS 101.5bn was accepted.
At 6.13%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 26 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.21%, so the government is paying 208 basis points less than twelve months ago.
