Tanzania T-bill auction, 28 November 2018: 364-day at 8.74%, up 29 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 November 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.00% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 5.22% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 8.74% (up 29 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 101.1bn against TZS 140.0bn on offer, 72% of the amount sought, and TZS 89.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 8.98%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.65%, so the government is paying 91 basis points less than twelve months ago.
