Tanzania T-bill auction, 14 November 2018: 364-day at 8.45%, up 24 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 November 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 5.22% (up 25 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.45% (up 24 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 126.4bn against TZS 137.0bn on offer, 92% of the amount sought, and TZS 112.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 9.29%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.86%, so the government is paying 141 basis points less than twelve months ago.
