Tanzania T-bill auction, 31 October 2018: 364-day at 8.21%, up 14 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 31 October 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 3.00% (up 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 4.97% (down 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.21% (up 14 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 172.8bn against TZS 140.0bn on offer, 123% of the amount sought, and TZS 109.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 9.65%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.24%, so the government is paying 203 basis points less than twelve months ago.
