Tanzania T-bill auction, 27 June 2018: 364-day at 6.89%, up 125 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 June 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 2.85% (up 31 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 6.89% (up 125 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 42.9bn against TZS 103.0bn on offer, 42% of the amount sought, and TZS 12.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 11.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 8.49%, so the government is paying 160 basis points less than twelve months ago.
