Tanzania T-bill auction, 13 June 2018: 364-day at 5.64%, up 16 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 13 June 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 2.54% (up 65 basis points), the 182-day bill at 2.68% (down 5 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.64% (up 16 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 69.4bn against TZS 168.0bn on offer, 41% of the amount sought, and TZS 59.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 11.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 9.90%, so the government is paying 426 basis points less than twelve months ago.
