Tanzania T-bill auction, 30 May 2018: 364-day at 5.48%, up 68 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 May 2018, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 2.73% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 5.48% (up 68 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 135.7bn against TZS 165.0bn on offer, 82% of the amount sought, and TZS 131.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 4.12% to 11.96%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 10.68%, so the government is paying 520 basis points less than twelve months ago.
