Tanzania T-bill auction, 29 November 2017: 364-day at 9.29%, down 36 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 November 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 6.88% (down 39 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.29% (down 36 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 402.2bn against TZS 165.0bn on offer, 244% of the amount sought, and TZS 165.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 15.82%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.86%, so the government is paying 657 basis points less than twelve months ago.
