Tanzania T-bill auction, 13 December 2017: 364-day at 8.98%, down 31 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 13 December 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 6.39% (down 49 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.98% (down 31 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 345.2bn against TZS 165.0bn on offer, 209% of the amount sought, and TZS 108.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 15.79%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.82%, so the government is paying 684 basis points less than twelve months ago.
