Tanzania T-bill auction, 15 November 2017: 364-day at 9.65%, down 21 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 November 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 7.27% (down 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 9.65% (down 21 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 289.0bn against TZS 165.0bn on offer, 175% of the amount sought, and TZS 164.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 15.82%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.13%, so the government is paying 648 basis points less than twelve months ago.
