Tanzania T-bill auction, 4 October 2017: 364-day at 10.76%, down 44 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 4 October 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.00% (down 10 basis points), the 182-day bill at 7.68% (down 98 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.76% (down 44 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 407.3bn against TZS 168.0bn on offer, 242% of the amount sought, and TZS 168.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 16.33%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.86%, so the government is paying 510 basis points less than twelve months ago.
