Tanzania T-bill auction, 20 September 2017: 364-day at 11.21%, down 42 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 20 September 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 8.66% (down 50 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 11.21% (down 42 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 519.7bn against TZS 165.0bn on offer, 315% of the amount sought, and TZS 183.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 16.33%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.84%, so the government is paying 464 basis points less than twelve months ago.
