Tanzania T-bill auction, 18 October 2017: 364-day at 10.24%, down 52 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 18 October 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.00% (unchanged), the 182-day bill at 7.35% (down 33 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.24% (down 52 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 250.0bn against TZS 168.0bn on offer, 149% of the amount sought, and TZS 140.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 16.13%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.97%, so the government is paying 573 basis points less than twelve months ago.
