Tanzania T-bill auction, 23 August 2017: 364-day at 11.96%, up 109 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 23 August 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 9.42% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 11.96% (up 109 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 361.8bn against TZS 165.0bn on offer, 219% of the amount sought, and TZS 165.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 16.33%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.91%, so the government is paying 394 basis points less than twelve months ago.
