Tanzania T-bill auction, 9 August 2017: 364-day at 10.88%, up 61 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 9 August 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.07% (down 73 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.42% (up 48 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.88% (up 61 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 166.6bn against TZS 168.0bn on offer, 99% of the amount sought, and TZS 166.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 16.33%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.00%, so the government is paying 512 basis points less than twelve months ago.
