Tanzania T-bill auction, 26 July 2017: 364-day at 10.27%, up 95 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 26 July 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 4.80% (down 12 basis points), the 182-day bill at 8.94% (up 79 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.27% (up 95 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 207.0bn against TZS 167.5bn on offer, 124% of the amount sought, and TZS 128.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 16.33%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.88%, so the government is paying 561 basis points less than twelve months ago.
