Tanzania T-bill auction, 28 June 2017: 364-day at 8.82%, up 33 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 June 2017, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 6.89% (down 47 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 8.82% (up 33 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 95.1bn against TZS 134.5bn on offer, 71% of the amount sought, and TZS 79.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 8.49% to 16.33%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.38%, so the government is paying 656 basis points less than twelve months ago.
