Tanzania T-bill auction, 28 December 2016: 364-day at 15.79%, down 3 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 December 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 14.54% (up 1 basis point) and the 364-day bill at 15.79% (down 3 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 144.1bn against TZS 136.0bn on offer, 106% of the amount sought, and TZS 99.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 15.07% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.65%, so the government is paying 286 basis points less than twelve months ago.
