Tanzania T-bill auction, 14 December 2016: 364-day at 15.82%, unchanged
At the Treasury bill auction dated 14 December 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.09% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 14.53% (down 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.82% (unchanged). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 179.0bn against TZS 138.0bn on offer, 130% of the amount sought, and TZS 139.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 15.07% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.86%, so the government is paying 304 basis points less than twelve months ago.
