Tanzania T-bill auction, 30 November 2016: 364-day at 15.82%, down 4 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 November 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.10% (down 13 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.67% (down 29 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.82% (down 4 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 196.5bn against TZS 138.0bn on offer, 142% of the amount sought, and TZS 180.1bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 15.07% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 18.87%, so the government is paying 305 basis points less than twelve months ago.
