Tanzania T-bill auction, 5 October 2016: 364-day at 15.97%, up 11 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 5 October 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.52% (up 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.56% (up 8 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.97% (up 11 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 148.7bn against TZS 138.5bn on offer, 107% of the amount sought, and TZS 132.4bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 15.07% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.56%, so the government is paying 141 basis points more than twelve months ago.
