Tanzania T-bill auction, 21 September 2016: 364-day at 15.86%, up 2 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 September 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.50% (up 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.49% (up 7 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.86% (up 2 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 141.5bn against TZS 137.0bn on offer, 103% of the amount sought, and TZS 116.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.99% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.34%, so the government is paying 153 basis points more than twelve months ago.
