Tanzania T-bill auction, 27 July 2016: 364-day at 16.00%, up 12 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 27 July 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 15.73% (up 14 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 16.00% (up 12 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 117.2bn against TZS 123.0bn on offer, 95% of the amount sought, and TZS 76.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.34% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.61%, so the government is paying 238 basis points more than twelve months ago.
