Tanzania T-bill auction, 10 August 2016: 364-day at 15.91%, down 9 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 10 August 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.54% (down 2 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.73% (unchanged) and the 364-day bill at 15.91% (down 9 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 109.3bn against TZS 138.0bn on offer, 79% of the amount sought, and TZS 64.3bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.34% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.66%, so the government is paying 125 basis points more than twelve months ago.
