Tanzania T-bill auction, 13 July 2016: 364-day at 15.88%, up 20 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 13 July 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 182-day bill at 15.60% (up 2 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.88% (up 20 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 119.6bn against TZS 134.0bn on offer, 89% of the amount sought, and TZS 65.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 14.34% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.41%, so the government is paying 247 basis points more than twelve months ago.
