Tanzania T-bill auction, 29 June 2016: 364-day at 15.68%, up 30 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 29 June 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.56% (up 77 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.58% (up 74 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.68% (up 30 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 67.9bn against TZS 68.0bn on offer, 100% of the amount sought, and TZS 54.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.61% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.98%, so the government is paying 270 basis points more than twelve months ago.
