Tanzania T-bill auction, 15 June 2016: 364-day at 15.38%, up 31 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 15 June 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 6.79% (down 68 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.83% (up 6 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.38% (up 31 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 116.3bn against TZS 107.0bn on offer, 109% of the amount sought, and TZS 82.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 13.41% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.64%, so the government is paying 274 basis points more than twelve months ago.
