Tanzania T-bill auction, 1 June 2016: 364-day at 15.07%, down 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 June 2016, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.47% (down 43 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.77% (up 9 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.07% (down 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was fully subscribed: bids totalled TZS 132.0bn against TZS 107.5bn on offer, 123% of the amount sought, and TZS 88.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.98% to 18.97%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 11.79%, so the government is paying 327 basis points more than twelve months ago.
