Tanzania T-bill auction, 30 December 2015: 364-day at 18.66%, up 1 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 30 December 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 9.20% (down 9 basis points), the 182-day bill at 17.38% (up 29 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 18.66% (up 1 basis point). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 62.9bn against TZS 97.0bn on offer, 65% of the amount sought, and TZS 27.5bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 18.87%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 16.59%, so the government is paying 207 basis points more than twelve months ago.
