Tanzania T-bill auction, 21 October 2015: 364-day at 15.98%, up 99 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 21 October 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 10.03% (up 107 basis points), the 182-day bill at 15.13% (up 75 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 15.98% (up 99 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 114.4bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 87% of the amount sought, and TZS 101.8bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.37%, so the government is paying 261 basis points more than twelve months ago.
