Tanzania T-bill auction, 7 October 2015: 364-day at 14.99%, up 43 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 7 October 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 8.95% (up 61 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.38% (up 52 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.99% (up 43 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 96.3bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 73% of the amount sought, and TZS 79.9bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.19%, so the government is paying 180 basis points more than twelve months ago.
