Tanzania T-bill auction, 17 June 2015: 364-day at 12.98%, up 34 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 17 June 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.35% (down 1 basis point), the 182-day bill at 11.53% (up 13 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.98% (up 34 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 26.8bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 20% of the amount sought, and TZS 5.2bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 12.99%, so the government is paying 1 basis point less than twelve months ago.
