Tanzania T-bill auction, 1 July 2015: 364-day at 13.41%, up 43 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 1 July 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.86% (up 51 basis points), the 182-day bill at 12.03% (up 50 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.41% (up 43 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 37.1bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 28% of the amount sought, and TZS 16.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.02%, so the government is paying 39 basis points more than twelve months ago.
