Tanzania T-bill auction, 3 June 2015: 364-day at 12.64%, up 85 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 3 June 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.37% (down 27 basis points), the 182-day bill at 11.40% (up 50 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 12.64% (up 85 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
The auction was undersubscribed: bids totalled TZS 46.6bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 35% of the amount sought, and TZS 19.6bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 9.71% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.13%, so the government is paying 48 basis points less than twelve months ago.
