Tanzania T-bill auction, 11 March 2015: 364-day at 10.33%, down 157 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 March 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 7.60% (down 92 basis points), the 182-day bill at 9.21% (down 224 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 10.33% (down 157 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 384.1bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 291% of the amount sought, and TZS 132.0bn was accepted.
At 10.33%, the 364-day rate is the lowest in the 25 auctions of the past year.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 13.77%, so the government is paying 344 basis points less than twelve months ago.
