Tanzania T-bill auction, 11 February 2015: 364-day at 13.49%, down 67 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 11 February 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 11.34% (down 226 basis points), the 182-day bill at 13.43% (down 62 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 13.49% (down 67 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 491.0bn against TZS 99.0bn on offer, 496% of the amount sought, and TZS 100.0bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 14.41%, so the government is paying 92 basis points less than twelve months ago.
