Tanzania T-bill auction, 28 January 2015: 364-day at 14.17%, down 87 bps
At the Treasury bill auction dated 28 January 2015, the Bank of Tanzania cleared the 91-day bill at 13.60% (down 68 basis points), the 182-day bill at 14.05% (down 59 basis points) and the 364-day bill at 14.17% (down 87 basis points). The rate shown is the weighted average yield of successful bids.
Demand was strong: bids totalled TZS 592.5bn against TZS 132.0bn on offer, 449% of the amount sought, and TZS 449.7bn was accepted.
Over the past year the 364-day rate has ranged from 12.99% to 16.59%.
A year earlier the 364-day bill cleared at 15.26%, so the government is paying 109 basis points less than twelve months ago.
